The Bite:
imageSearching for life-changing Italian food on the cheap? Well, you're on your own for the existential answers, but you can grab some mean cuisine at Murano's $12 Tuesdays, where all the entrees on its special menu'll run you – wait for it - $12. Naples native Luciano Sautto started running the kitchen this fall, spicing up his authentic Italian fare with some contemporary twists. He frequents the BH and Santa Monica farmers markets to make eats like pesto-mozzarella pizza and the popular pasta dish Strozzapretti alla Vodka (he had us at vodka). Pop in during Martini Madness (um, happy hour) and revel in Murano's newly revamped, sleeker-than-ever lounge area – after a few stiff ones for $8, you might find yourself dispensing advice to strangers.

In Italian, Strozzapretti translates to “priest choker” - legend has it a gluttonous priest ate too much of it too quickly, and choked to death.
