Waiting (Turn)tables

The Bite:
Do you have a reservation? For a hot DJ, that is. Now taking orders: Aaron Brown, aka DJ Ref, will play pretty much any song for any occasion - "Celebration" at weddings (if you must) or "I Will Survive" at divorce parties (nope, not kidding) - and can MC and coordinate with event planners, caterers, etc., at your shindig. His solar-powered generator rocks everything from turntables and speakers to computer and party lights (LEDs, natch). Ref downloads most of his tunes, but also plays vintage vinyl and used CDs – cutting down plastic and packaging waste. He also plants a tree for every booking, and buys credits to offset his driving to and from events. Your table's ready…
Wanna Try:
Aaron "DJ Ref" Brown (818-445-2840). Basic package, $250/4-hour event and up.

Cocktail Fact

Alan Freed was the first disc jockey inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is credited with coining the term "rock and roll."

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters buy their next album via digital download, we'll keep 2,206 pounds of plastic and paper out of the production stream.
