SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 LA Biters catch the train to San Diego instead of driving, we'll offset the weight of over 26,000 surfboards in CO2.

COCKTAIL FACT

Dennis Wilson was the only actual surfer in The Beach Boys.

The Bite

Wanna do something more entertaining than sit on the 5 (in your daddy's T-bird or otherwise) this Memorial Day weekend? Plan ahead, and take Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner down to San Diego's beach cities for a weekend getaway that steers clear of crowded freeways (and generates less CO2). Check out La Jolla's eco-friendly Estancia Hotel and then dine ocean-side on locally grown produce and artisanal meats at The Marine Room. Get a deep-cleansing facial made of organic fruits and veggies at Gaia Spa before skinny dipping at Black's Beach (no swimsuit = saving resources too). Or, for happy hour, slurp down beers and nosh on organic beef burgers (try the Pattie M' Melt) at Bare Back Grill...where the real beach boys hang out. Fun.
