SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 LA Biters donate their old camera, we'll keep the weight of 23,529 of those little golden statue awards in electric equipment out of landfills.

COCKTAIL FACT

The first digital camera prototype weighed in at about 8 pounds and was the size of a toaster.

The Big Picture

The Bite

Focused on details like whether to go with matte or glossy? Step back and picture this: 18 outdated digi-cams (that might have otherwise ended up in a landfill) in the hands of kids who survived the '04 Asian tsunami. Result? The See and Sprout Project photo exhibit opening this weekend - the product of PR maven Stacie Krajchir, who organizes photography supplies and workshops for Thai survivors. Highlights include behind-the-scenes photos of the project and 65 of the best of the best of the kid's photographs, with touching captions written by them. Purchase a photo, and the cash will go straight to a young photographer to help rebuild, or bring your old cam, and put reuse to remarkably good use. Then say cheese.
