The Bite:
Long showers starting to pose a domestic threat…to your bank account? Fight back hostile utility bills with the eco-ammo you pick up at Growing and Greening NY - an exhibit that takes you through a day in the life of a NYer (that'd be you) - from a 7 am shower to 2 am, while you sleep (hint: the city never does). You'll get now-why-didn't-I-think-of-that? tips on reducing energy, pollution, waste, and water (hello, low-flow showerhead), plus a sneak peak at new plans for eco-fying NYC. Gander at sustainable home stuff like 3R Living's 100% recyclable Lite2Go lamp and energy-efficient appliances, and see how far food travels to get to your plate (read: if you eat local, less CO2 Jacks up).
Wanna Try:
Growing and Greening New York, Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Ave. Map It (212-534-1672). Suggested admission, $9/adults; $5/students and seniors.

Cocktail Fact

When filming the show 24, all cast members have to trim their hair every 5 days since each episode takes place for 1 hour during the same day.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters install a low-flow showerhead, after just one 10-minute shower each we'll conserve enough water to fill 1,033 kiddie pools.
