Basic Instinct

The Bite:
Ready to start interrogating fabrics before you buy more clothes? The labels, anyway (poly-acetate-what?). For an open and shut case, (ice) pick Marchuska, a basic tee line for both girls and guys. Ladies: Slip into a short, long, or three-quarter sleeve number like Women's Mseries T with folded-up, dress-shirt cuffs. Guys: Try the short-sleeve Men's Mseries T with epaulettes. It's all made with eco-fancy fabric like blends of silk and modal (beech-tree fiber grown without pesticides), and organic cotton. The comfy, second-skin feel has us obsessed, plus there's itsy-bitsy dresses like our personal fave: the '60s Sedgwick-style mini Sylvia Dress – just don't forget your undies.
Wanna Try:
Marchuska, available online or at Kaight, 83 Orchard St. Map It (212-680-5630). Sylvia Dress, $135.

Cocktail Fact

To get a theatre-friendly R-rating, Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven had to recut the movie 14 times.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters buy an organic cotton tee instead of one made with regular cotton, we'll keep the weight of 600 DVD players in pesticides out of our environment.
