Bite: the Big Ones

04.17.2009

The Bite:
Over the past 3 months, we've brought you the best in green - from an ice-free ice skating rink to an eco model to cider-spiked donuts (that we forced ourselves to taste-test for you)…here's what you (and we) loved best:
The Big One:
The One You Loved:
Looks like NY Biters like it better in the dark - our Earth Hour tip was most popular. When the city hit the lights for…wait for it…an hour in March, it joined millions 'round the world who pledged to reverse climate change or just test out NYC restos by candlelight. Runner-up: Gettin' crafty every Monday with free classes at Etsy Lab Craft Night.

The One We Loved:
DIY knicker classes at Make Workshop. Even tho' we can't sew on a button, MW made it easy for us newbies with step by steps, plus tools and fabric. 'Course, it also gave us a reason to go Risky Business in our new lacy undies. Runner-up: clear slick glosses from Green By Nature. We admit it, we have an addiction.

The Best Reason to Drink Before Noon:
Wine Cellar Sorbet with 5% vino plucked from upstate NY grapes. Turns out the sweet, rich Croissant French Toast with Caramelized Apples and Riesling Sorbet recipe makes a great hangover cure – beats a shot of whiskey.

Cocktail Fact

Based on time zone, Fiji was the first to flick off its lights this Earth Hour.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters actually did turn off 10 100-watt bulbs during Earth Hour, we saved enough energy to power a home for a year.
