Butter You Up

05.29.2009

The Bite:
Wanna sweet talk your t-buds? Suck up to Butter Lane Cupcakes' chubby 'cakes in made-to-order combos. You choose: moist vanilla, chocolate, or banana cake with a muffinlike texture and butter cream toppings (sample a few before ordering) - chocolate, 'nilla, cream cheese, berry (FYI: no food coloring here), lemon, lime, coconut, or pick-me-up espresso. All are made from locally sourced Organic Valley co-op milk, eggs, and organic butter. It's got French butter cream too - lighter and fluffier like meringue. Warning: brown nose may occur.
Why Care?:
Stuffin' your maw with locally sourced cupcakes keeps CO2 emissions down (less fuel to haul them to NYC) and supports nearby farmers.
Our fave: the chocolate cake with blueberry butter cream icing. 'Nuff said.

Cocktail Fact

A Maple French Toast and Bacon Cupcake recipe won this month's Food Network secret ingredient recipe challenge featuring maple syrup. It has a syrupy flavored cake, cream cheese frosting, and…yep, bacon sprinkled on top.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters eat just one locally sourced breakfast (cupcakes totally count) instead of a conventional one, we'll save enough gas to fill the tanks of 12,235 hybrid buses.
