Chair-ished Memories

The Bite:

Adore your grammy but not her hand-me-down, not-so-rockin' rocker? Go ahead and take it, just give it (and any other mothball-scented heirlooms) a makeover. Chairloom's owner Molly Worth repairs and reupholsters Craigslist castoffs and flea-market finds (mostly chairs and ottomans) with totally hip and eco-friendly fabrics from NYC-local Rubie Green and RI-based Oliveira Textiles. She'll do custom revamps, so you can have something close to your heart plus antique-y details for about the same price (or less) as buying a new piece, keeping more junk outta landfills. You can also check out Mol's ever-changing one-of-a-kind pieces online - we're already fighting over the coral-cushioned footrest (see photo). Unforgettable.

Wanna Try:

Chairloom, available online or at Brownstoner's Brooklyn Flea, 176 Lafayette Ave. b/t Clermont and Vanderbilt Aves. (914-484-5498). Footrest, $275.
