The Bite:
imageWanna send a quick message without making your thumbs sore? Reply to NYC's Environmental Council's call for all your old threads on "Material Mondays." Give your never-to-be-worn-again clothes, coats, hats, towels, shoes (and bedding, too) another go-around by dropping 'em off at Union Square on any Monday. EC will bring 'em to Goodwills in the tri-state area and together you'll help delete some of the half a million tons of fully recyclable goods that end up in NYC's landfills each year (and clear your closet to boot). Can't do Mondays? Drop your duds off in Brooklyn on "Second Chance Saturdays." Either way, you'll get a tax write-off. OMG.
Wanna Try:
Material Mondays, Mondays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Union Square Park, near Broadway b/t 14th and 15th Sts.
Second Chance Saturdays, Saturdays 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket, NW entrance to Prospect Park (Flatbush Ave. and Eastern Pkwy.), Brooklyn.

Cocktail Fact

About 365 million people in the world have computers while 3.25 billion (half the world's population) have never seen or used a telephone.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters donate or recycle their used clothes, linens, and curtains instead of throwing them away, in one year we'll keep the weight of nearly 10 Times Square New Year's Eve Ball outta landfills.
