Eco Health Talk

Doctor's Orders

04.13.2009

The Bite:
Got an eco problem that needs a checkup? Whether it's cleaner air or just wanting to use less water at home, the xDesign Environmental Health Clinic event has your Rx. Experts at this 1-hour forum like Natalie Jeremijenko will field just about any eco-Q you throw, and prescribe an effective cure. Example: Wanna help clean up NYC air? xD'll hook you up with tree-planting orgs like NoPark, which plants grass over no parking zones to reduce storm water runoff. Plant two and call us in the morning.
Why Care?:
A little info can go a long way toward making a small change that adds up (sound familiar?) - plant just one tree, and when it matures, it'll absorb up to 48 pounds of CO2 a year.
We'll be popping by the museum's Climate Change exhibit before the event to geek out on eco facts and figures.
Wanna Try:
xDesign Environmental Health Clinic; Apr. 23, 6:30 pm; American Museum of Natural History, Linder Theater, 175 Central Park W. (212-769-5200). Tickets, $15.

Cocktail Fact

Before the 16th century, people used the word doctor to describe a teacher or scholar of religion.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters help maintain city trees through an org like NoPark, in a year it'll have the same CO2-reducing effect as taking one and a half cars off the road.
