Go Bottomless

We mean for charity. Drop off outgrown, tired-of, or could- never-find-the-right-match pants and other office-y clothes, shoes, bags, or jewelry to Bottomless Closet NYC. This nonprof gives disadvantaged women in our area a leg up on getting a nine-to-five, but it's not your typical Goodwill dumping ground. BC not only fits working girls-to-be with interview-appropriate outfits, plus three extras, but also preps them for interviews and hosts workshops on topics like networking and financial management. It also has a book club (this month's read: The Great Gatsby), and stays available for work-related questions and support even after they land a gig so that all bases are...covered.

Wanna Try:
Bottomless Closet NYC, 545 Eighth Ave. b/t 37th and 38th Sts., 12th Fl.; Drop-off times: M-F, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or call (212-563-2499) for special arrangements.

Cocktail Fact

A recent survey by Allure magazine showed that women own an average of 27 pairs of shoes.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters donate one business suit and a pair of gently worn shoes instead of tossing them, we'll keep the weight of 7,500 briefcases in clothing out of landfills and in the hands of women who can use 'em.
