Eco Plant Store

With Liberty…

04.10.2009

The Bite:
...and justice for your plant-deprived apartment. Pledge to spruce up your digs with Liberty Sunset Garden Center's great-for-indoors greenery, such as spider plants (no actual spiders come with, BTW - these absorb toxic chems like formaldehyde), giant jades, tons o' flowers, and the eastern native prickly-pear cactus. Also: handmade ceramic pots, wooden flower boxes, and organic plant food from TerraCycle too. LSGC's other allegiances to the planet? It composts and has a solar-powered checkout station.
Why Care?:
Feeding plants organic fertilizers keeps 22 nasty chems like mercury, arsenic, and cadmium found in conventional fertilizers out of your home and outta the environment.
The Center's awesome harbor views, a koi-stocked pond, a waterfall, and superlush foliage made us wish we could move in.
Wanna Try:
Liberty Sunset Garden Center, 204-207 Van Dyke St. (718-858-3400). Giant jade plant w/pot, $70.

Cocktail Fact

The original Pledge of Allegiance didn't include the words "under God" – they were added in 1954.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters decorate with one spider plant, in a year, we'll prevent a wheelbarrow full of formaldehyde from polluting our homes and the planet.
