Me So Corny

The Bite:
Hard up for a new drink? Order a stiff one with Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey. It's made from corn plucked from Hudson Valley farms (like Tantillo Farm) and aged for a year and a half in small American oak barrels. Perf for virgin whiskey drinkers, this baby has a smooth vanilla and caramel flavor – we've tried it a bunch of ways (what we won't do for you…), and are pretty much stuck on the old splash of water and ice routine. And since it's made in Gardiner, NY – at the first and only whiskey producer in NY since Prohibition – it means cutting down CO2 emissions compared to bottles shipped from, say, Tennessee. Satisfying.
Wanna Try:
Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey, available at Astor Wines & Spirits, 399 Lafayette St. Map It (212-673-7500). Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey, $40/375 milliliters.

Cocktail Fact

In 2007, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution declaring September as National Bourbon Heritage Month.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters opt for a bottle of local whiskey over a national brand made in TN, it'll have the same CO2-reducing effect as taking 867 cars off the road for a year.
