Organic Milk

Milking It

05.13.2009

The Bite:
Wanna squeeze the most outta your shopping budget? Get your money's worth from Manhattan Milk, which'll deliver organic, hormone-free milk - skim, whole, or chocolate - from grass-fed Byrne Dairy cows to your doorstep for about the same price as your local store. Delivery's between 4-10 am or MM'll leave it with the doorman in a recycled tweed insulated bag (and then pick up the bottles postcereal binge for free). All the milk comes in quarts…get ready to suck it dry.
Why Care?:
Organic milk has more vitamins A and E than nonorganic, antioxidants for healthy skin, and zero cancer-causing hormones like rbST.
Along with our weekly quarts of white and choco milk (our nightly snack), we sometimes order up Pete and Gerry's organic eggs and growth-hormone-free blueberry yogurt from MM too.
Wanna Try:
Manhattan Milk, available online for delivery (917-843-0727). Manhattan Milk, $5/quart. Delivery, $15 minimum with a $5 delivery charge.

Cocktail Fact

In India, old cows go to nursing homes.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters drink 1 quart of organic milk a week for a year, we'll keep 1,074 kiddie pools filled with cancer-causing rBGH milk outta our bodies.

Can you please share the research data that supports your statement "Organic milk has more vitamins A and E than nonorganic" - I've yet to see any studies that indicate the nutritent value of organic foods is higher than conventional foods. Organic foods may have less nasty "stuff" in them; but more nutritents? As a organic consumer I want to believe this, but to my knowledge science does not back this up! Thanks for your time. Brona
$5/quart plus a $5 delivery fee is "about the same price as your local store"? PLEASE tell me where you are shopping that you pay $25 for a gallon of milk. That's pretty outrageous.
i was so excited to click thru & sign up for this service. i remember that chocolate milk on my doorstep & begging my mom to drink it before school. alas, i was very disappointed to see the price - rebecca had it right, $25/gallon of milk??!!!? . . . just not feasible.
