The Bite:
Less than excited about the same old souvlaki vendors outside your office? Grab a less ordinary lunch at Pita Joe, where everything's packed into a just-baked white or whole wheat pita made with organic eggs and flour (hit it at noon and you're out in six minutes flat). Four types: Joe Schnitzel (lightly breaded chicken), The Naked Joe (grilled, not fried), Joe in a Pocket (falafel + organic chickpeas), and Purple Joe (eggplant and organic hummus). It's locally sourced (read: less farm-to-plate CO2), Kosher, and open for casual eat-in or takeout (it uses recyclable and biodegradable packaging). On visit #2, we swapped pita for greens and topped with PJ's most popular filler: chicken schnitzel with za'atar spices. One word: Extraordinary.
