Nu Kid on the Block

The Bite:
Houseguests back for a reunion tour? Instead of hangin' tough 'til they check out, send them to the eco-modern Nu Hotel. The new 93-room Cobble Hill digs have organic cotton sheets, free wireless, Aveda bath stuff, and chalkboard bathroom walls ('cuz who doesn't do their best thinking in the shower?). Nu also rocks a free fitness room (open 24-7) with Pilates and yoga gear, and coming soon: free bikes and tours to Prospect Park. It's got other right stuff too, like cork floors, recycled wood furniture, and biodegradable key cards in all standard rooms, but it's the hammocks in the Urban Suites and bunk beds in the Friend Suites that make you wanna go…oooh, oh, oooh, oh, oooh.
Wanna Try:
Nu Hotel, 85 Smith St., Brooklyn. Map It (718-852-8585). Standard Queen Room, $209/night.

Cocktail Fact

Traveler's Digest named The Beverly Hills Hotel the best place to spot celebrities, followed by LA's Mondrian. NYC's Waldorf Astoria was third on the list.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 NY Biters stay at a hotel that uses nontoxic cleaners instead of ones with toxic chems, in a year we'll keep enough chem-filled liquids to fill 75 swimming pools from pouring down our drains and into waterways.
