SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 NY Biters set a table for four with rehabilitated plates instead of new ones, we'll keep the equivalent weight of 37,000 leftover turkey sandwiches out of landfills.

COCKTAIL FACT

In September, 2007, 2,500 people attempted to break the world record for largest underwater dinner party. Results are still being verified...and dried off.

Dish It Out

The Bite

image
We can take it, especially if you serve it up on artsy dishware by Brooklyn's own Sarah Cihat. After scouring store overstock, tag sales, and Goodwill stashes for raw materials like plates, platters, and ceramic serving pieces, Sarah redesigns each modern, colorful dinnerware piece by hand, adding bright backgrounds and quirky, stencil-like patterns with images of flowers, horses, skulls, or birds. She then polishes them off by reglazing and refiring them, turning would-be trash into modern art treasure. You can either buy from her collection or work with her to design a custom piece that'll make dishing it out more stylish than ever.
