SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 NY Biters use organic cotton yarn to knit a sweater instead of regular cotton, we'll keep the weight of over 53,000 knitting needles in pesticides out of the environment.

COCKTAIL FACT

In April, British knitter Susie Hewer became the first person to knit a scarf while participating in a marathon, which she completed in less than 6 hr.

Knit Picky

The Bite

Want everything you make to be just so? Pick up some eco-yarn before you knit another stitch. The Point NYC's knit shop has a boatload of yarn made with planet-friendly materials, such as supersoft bamboo, soy-based silk, organic cotton, and surprisingly supple maize (made of corn fibers... it didn't smell like popcorn - and yes, we sniffed). It also has a café, where you can buy stuff to nibble while you knit or join the official NYC Stitch 'n' Bitch crew every Thursday night at 7 p.m. to trade techniques no matter what knit you pick.

Wanna Try
