Pour Some Maple on Me
The Bite
Like it hot (hot, so hot) and sticky sweet for breakfast? If so, pile into a
Zipcar and head upstate for Maple Weekend. For two days, 110 New York State maple producers will open their sugar houses to give you an inside look at syrup-making and - best of all - a taste of the goods. Watch how it's done, from tree-tapping to the creation of syrup, maple cream, sugar, and candy. We'll be hitting at least one (but probably several) of the pancake-breakfast shindigs planned for the event. Buying local saves CO2 caused by long-distance shipping, and many of these farmers are all organic all the time. You can even take some home with ya...ooh, in the name of love.
