Spam-a-Not
The Bite
Missing out on Clay Aiken's
Spamalot run? Head downtown to Broadway's newest debut instead: Broadway East. Opening tonight, this mostly veggie restaurant is turning local Hudson Valley and Long Island farm goods into exotic dishes like Portobello e Noce Nero, made with grilled millet polenta, and porcini mushroom ragout. You can also just hang at the bar: Sipping the Lychee Bellini (made with sparkling sake and organic lychee puree) is officially on the top of our to-do list. And sustainable describes more than the food: It's got biodegradable take-out containers, tabletops made of wood reclaimed from a NYC water tower, and a 240-ft "Green Wall" of plants. Dinner starts tonight, with breakfast, lunch, and brunch on the way. No spam here.
