Swing Both Ways
The Bite
Love new adventures, but not always into hot meat? Have it both ways at Foodswings, the vegan's answer to the local greasy spoon. This Brooklyn-based diner defies traditional veganism with late-night munchies such as Classic Nachos made with beans, cheddar soy cheese, and tofu sour cream; Disco Fries with a side of brown gravy; and Mock Drumsticks prepared buffalo, BBQ, or Southern-fried style, so you get all the pleasure while saving the energy and resources used in raising and processing meat and dairy. We recently sated our sweet tooth (and nearly induced a sugar coma) with a soy milk shake and slice of key lime pie, and while it's not exactly health food, it'll certainly satisfy your curiosity.
