Ideal Bite Launches "Green Chip Co. Showcase" Service to Connect Consumers with Eco-Conscious Companies
Businesses Such as Starbucks and Stonyfield Farm in the Spotlight for Their Sustainability Efforts
Brooklyn, NY and Bozeman, MT - March 15, 2006 - Ideal Bite, the only online green resource targeted at everyday people (www.idealbite.com), has launched a new program to connect their 36,000 subscribers with green-minded companies. The Ideal Bite Green Chip Co. Showcase, introduced in late February, features two companies a month - from small, eco-focused businesses to more traditional blue-chips like Starbucks Corporation (Nasdaq: SBUX).
Part consumer guide, part eco-concierge, Ideal Bite's new service gives subscribers (also known as "Biters") insider information on how companies are implementing green initiatives, where companies are excelling, and even where they are challenged or failing.
"As we help take green mainstream, it's more important than ever to inform consumers about the environmental and socially conscious efforts of these truly committed companies," said Ideal Bite Co-Founder Heather Stephenson. "At the same time, we aren't 'watchdogs' - our creed is that no one and no company is absolutely perfect, but we want to highlight those that are taking positive steps," noted other Co-Founder Jennifer Boulden.
Ideal Bite spotlighted Starbucks Corporation on March 9, helping to spur a lively discussion amongst the Biter community. Go to www.idealbite.com/tiplibrary and search under "Starbucks" to learn about the company's initiatives and to read the consumer reactions in the blog.
The Green Chip Co. Showcase is the latest in a series of specialized services from Ideal Bite. Previous services included a "Green Holiday Gift Guide" in December and "Eco-Love Week" in February. Ideal Bite plans to launch several new informational series this year, including a spotlight on Celebrity Biters.
Believing that every day is Earth Day, Ideal Bite provides weekday tips to the 36,000 subscribers it attracted after launching late last June, and their subscriber growth continues to expand by 22 percent per month. Ideal Bite's success lies in the sassy, non-preachy attitude and its pledge to help followers save time by finding the best products, save money through energy efficiencies, and be eco-hip with what's new and cool, all while building a community where Biters can "dish" about the day's tip, share additional tips, and be entertained with small, ideal bites of environmentalism.
Ideal Bite is a non-biased information source, and all recommended products and services have been tested and enjoyed. No company can pay to be featured in any tip.
Ideal Bite readers are taking small bites that add up to a big environmental impact - in a January 2006 survey, more than 1,000 Biters conserved enough energy to power 25 homes for an entire year by recycling the soda cans they used in 2005. Another 1,000 Biters saved enough grain to feed 402 people for a year, just by cutting out two meat dishes each week for six months.
