We are all about saving trees, but if you’d like to spread the good-n-green word by posting an Ideal Bite tip in a public place, we encourage you do so on recycled paper. Thanks and Happy Biting!

If 10,000 NY Biters eat two locally sourced slices a week instead of regular ones, we'll avert the weight of over 5 mil pizza delivery guys in CO2 emissions from fouling up our air.

Gennaro Lombardi opened the first U.S. pizzeria in 1905, in Little Italy, Manhattan.
A Pizza My Heart
The Bite:
Blindly searching for a piece of true love? It's yours for the taking at Franny's, home to swoon-worthy thin, crispy-crust pizzas. All of the ingredients -including fresh cheese, veggies, herbs - come from local or organic farms, so you can load up with toppings like sausage, clams, chilis, and onions, or keep it simple with the delish unadorned extra-virgin olive oil and sea salt. The menu changes more often than we change shirts (well, almost), and artisan appetizers like pork sausage with broccoli rabe take this place way beyond the greasy corner slice joint. Add fair trade coffee, renewable energy (65% hydroelectric, 35% wind power), menus printed on recycled paper, and biodegradable to-go containers, and we think may have found true love at last.
Wanna Try?
Franny's, 295 Flatbush Ave. b/t St. Marks Ave. and Prospect Place, Brooklyn (718-230-0221). Pizzas, $8-15.
