We are all about saving trees, but if you’d like to spread the good-n-green word by posting an Ideal Bite tip in a public place, we encourage you do so on recycled paper. Thanks and Happy Biting!

Learning about nature won't protect it, but studies have shown that being outdoors can keep you healthy - not to mention sane.

In 1948, a battery of large-caliber machine guns was installed at Milagra Ridge to help protect the entrance to the SF Bay, but the plans were soon abandoned and the guns were removed only a year later.

The Bite:
Think you have to hike countless miles uphill both ways in order to see endangered species? Nope: Get an eyeful of some stunning, rare butterflies in action with just a short drive to Pacifica. Nature in the City's lepidoptera (er, moth and butterfly) expert and two wildlife habitat restoration pros will take you on a 1.5-mi hike and give you the lowdown on how this former Nike missile site was transformed into a hotspot for the mission blue butterfly. The guides will provide snacks for the trail - bring your own water bottle - and the wildflowerful (you read it here first) Milagra Ridge will provide the scenery. So worth the effort.
