We are all about saving trees, but if you’d like to spread the good-n-green word by posting an Ideal Bite tip in a public place, we encourage you do so on recycled paper. Thanks and Happy Biting!

If 10,000 SF Biters plant just one tree, in a year, we'll avert the weight of over 1,000 cable cars worth of C02 from entering the atmosphere.

Tree dahlias can reach heights of up to 20 ft - three to four times the size of their typical dahlia cousins.
Plant Buy Me Love
The Bite:
Don't care too much for money - especially when it's only paying for your water bill? Here's something money can buy: plants that require minimal water. Check out the San Francisco Botanical Garden this weekend, where folks are digging up some 4,000 varieties of foliage - many rare, and all ready to flourish in SF's schizophrenic climate - from its greenhouse for the Spring Plant Sale. Grab SF natives such as the drought-resistant California coffeeberry (alas, it doesn't produce beans), or let smarty-pants volunteers help you identify nonnatives such as the fog-loving tree dahlias that'll thrive while saying "No, no, no, nooo!" to our precious freshwater.
Wanna Try?
San Francisco Botanical Garden's 41st Annual Spring Plant Sale; May 3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; SF County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park (415-661-1316). Bell Tree Dahlia (Dahlia imperialis), $8.
