Are You Ale-ing?

The Bite:

Nothing a lil' happy hour action won't cure. Get everyone's favorite Rx (or just ours) tomorrow night at the Ferry Building, where the California Certified Organic Farmers will be serving up tastes of certified organic beer and wine. Doctor's orders: Fill your glass with beer from five Bay Area breweries (Biter office neighbor Thirsty Bear will be pouring frothy glasses of smooth-y sweet Vanilla Brew), wine from 20 local vineyards, or, go straight to the hard stuff (liquor before beer...) and swig some of Santa Cruz's own Shadow Spirits Vodka. Everything'll be local, down to the nosh dished up by Ferry Building food vendors, meaning a full belly and less farm-to-plate CO2. Sick.

Wanna Try:

CCOF 3rd Annual Organic Beer and Wine Tasting; Oct. 24, 4-8 pm; Ferry Building, Market St. at Embarcadero (415-291-3276). Tickets at the door, $15/5 tastes, $25/10 tastes.

Cocktail Fact

Pica is a rare disease that triggers the urge to eat things other than food, like paper, hair, dirt, glue, nails, and even cigarette butts.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters chug a pint of local beer each day instead of an import, we'll avert the carbon emissions of nearly 480 round-trip flights from SF to Frankfurt, Germany.
