Beware of Dog(patch)

03.18.2009

The Bite:
Baring your teeth at the gas pump these days? Start barkin' up the right tree at Dogpatch Biofuels, where you can power up anything that runs on diesel (like your old V-dub...). DB buys fuel from local businesses that recycle restaurant veggie oil into biodiesel – instead of contributing to the 2.9 billion gallons of veggie oil that Americans waste each year. Like any other gas station, DB's got a little convenience store – but this one's stocked with natural and organic goodies, such as Reed's and Blue Sky soda, and Dagoba Organic Chocolate. Not too ruff.
Wanna Try:
Dogpatch Biofuels, 765 Pennsylvania Ave. Map It (415-643-3435). Current biodiesel price, $3.61/gallon, cash; $3.71/gallon, credit.

Cocktail Fact

Female dogs bite twice as often as male pooches.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters drive from downtown to Stinson Beach in a car that runs on waste veggie oil instead of gas, we'll avert the CO2 created by 91 round-trip flights from SF to Dogpatch USA, a former theme park in AK.
