Busting Chops

The Bite:
Veg friends harassing you about your love affair with bacon? Yeah, yeah… Fight the good fight, and take them to author Nicolette Niman's reading of Righteous Porkchop: Finding a Life and Good Food Beyond Factory Farms at Omnivore Books. Nicolette'll talk about her career as an activist and environmental lawyer (and her romance with local humane ranching hero Bill Niman), and give details on the dark side of factory pork (overuse of water, overcrowding, and millions of gallons of toxic waste). But she'll also share the tasty alternative: heritage breeds from sustainable family farms. The reading is free (per usual), and there'll be a Q&A with Mrs. Niman at the end with free wine and snacks. No teasin'.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters eat one organic pork dinner a month instead of a conventional one, in a year we'll ensure that 1,176 pigs are raised without antibiotics or added hormones.
