Fashion Show

Deconstruction Crew

The Bite:
Wanna check out some dynamite new looks this weekend? It's blowing up on Saturday with Cabaret Deconstructiv, a free local fashion, costume, and art extravaganza hosted by SF’s traveling showcase, Pandora's Trunk. Cabaret's runway show features fable-inspired local fashions, set to a narrative tale with accompanying viola. Pre- and postshow, drink sangria and mingle with extraordinary indie designers, and peruse trunk loads (heh…) of rockable, sustainable wares, including Medium Reality's new men's shirts outta old shirts, and Pallas Ravae's necklaces crafted with vintage lockets and skeleton keys. Smashing.
Why Care?:
Reconstructing used garments into new fashions keeps textiles outta landfills and reduces water and energy used in new fabric production.
Bad Unkl Sista's dreamy bustles (read: skirtlike booty adornments) make us wanna shake it like we're mad at it.
Wanna Try:
Pandora's Trunk's Cabaret Deconstructiv; Apr. 18, 1-5 pm; Climate Theater, 285 Ninth St. (415-263-0830). Runway Show & Sustainable Story time; 2:30 and 4 pm.

Cocktail Fact

The largest building ever demolished was the 2.7 million-square-foot Sears Merchandise Center in Philadelphia - it took 12,000 pounds of dynamite to blow that sucker up in 1994.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters purchase recycled apparel for a year instead of new threads, we'll save enough energy to power 326 homes for a year.
