The Farmhouse Inn the Dell - City Break

The Bite:

Hi-ho, the derry-o...uh, get outta SF this weekend. Bring the wife/sig-o, the child (and maybe the nurse if you play rough), and R&R at Forestville's Farmhouse Inn. Hole up in a country suite and dunk homemade cookies in milk beside your very own fireplace. If you somehow get sick of the in-room redwood sauna and steam shower, stroll through the organic garden, or swish the peppery-sweet, bi-dy (can we shorten biodynamic yet?) Petite Syrah at the nearby Truett-Hurst Winery. Then grab dinner at FI's Michelin-rated resto - try the fresh-picked Persimmon and Pomegranate Salad. Top it off (the weekend, not the salad) with a chem-free facial using products from Sebastopol's Sumbody at the FI spa. That takes the cheese.

Wanna Try:

Farmhouse Inn, 7871 River Rd., Forestville (707-887-3300). Rooms, $325 per night/queen; $495 per night/king; facial, $115. Truett-Hurst Winery, 5610 Dry Creek Rd., Healdsburg (707-433-9545). Tasting, $5, refundable with any wine purchase; Burning Man Petite Syrah, $34/bottle.

Cocktail Fact

The French Language version of "The Farmer in the Dell" ends with le fromage est battu, literally meaning "the cheese is beaten."

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters eat one organic meal every day for a year, we'll avert 300 wine bottles worth of pesticides from entering the environment.
