Herbal Medicine Class

Med, Shoulders...

06.10.2009

The Bite:
…knees and toes, knees and toes. Learn how to heal those (plus your mouth and ears and eyes and nose) at Garden for the Environment's Herbal First Aid class. The seminar dishes the dirt on plants and herbs that soothe ailments naturally, and sends you home with your very own herbal first aid starter kit packed full of fixes (spoiler alert: stick some lavender and chamomile in your med cabinet) for common complaints. It's good for Mama Earth - and your body parts too.
Why Care?:
Pollution from pharmaceuticals affects waterways (and therefore our drinking water) and wildlife; using herbal remedies reduces chemical dependency.
We're intrigued by the notion of using the "band-aid plant" (no joke) to help heal our boo-boos.
Wanna Try:
Herbal First Aid class; Jun. 13, 10 am-12 pm; Seventh Ave. at Lawton St. (415-731-5627). Call or email to preregister. Class, $15.

Cocktail Fact

The average human head weighs 10 pounds.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters opt for natural remedies this summer, we'll keep the weight of 2,370 human heads in chem- and hormone-laden pills out of waterways.
