Eco-Invitations

Press-to!

09.30.2009

The Bite:
Believe it: Petaluma-based letterpress extraordinaire, Dauphine Press, is pulling something new out of its eco-hat. Coral is a new line of gorgeous letterpress wedding invitations printed on USA-grown cotton recovered from textile manufacturing and pressed into paper form. It's simple: You choose design, font, and color from 12 chic styles (from romantic florals to clean and modern) - and then pay about 20% less than DP's average invites. Plus, DP is a Certified Bay Area Green Business and uses antique presses rescued from printers around Northern CA. Magic.

Why Care?:
Repurposing cotton into paper for wedding invites saves the resources used to process virgin materials and keeps trees standing.

Cocktail Fact

Letterpress (pressing raised forms onto paper and then coloring the imprint) originated in second-century China, where they carved text into wood and pressed it into silk.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters purchase 50 wedding invitations printed on reclaimed-cotton, tree-free paper rather than paper made from virgin trees, we'll keep 144 trees standing.
