Bike to Work Day Tomorrow

Spoke-n Word

05.13.2009

The Bite:
Here's a three word poem: Bike to work. Need more prose? All right, dust off your sweet purple Huffy, roll up your pant leg, spare the air, and leave your car parked - tomorrow's SF's Bike to Work Day. It'll be pure rhythm in motion: The SF Bike Coalition's organized a free bike valet downtown, snacks and coffee at 26 energizer stations citywide, and commuter convoys (numbers = safety) from every neighborhood (yes, even the Outer Richmond). Slam.
Why Care?:
Cycling keeps toxic exhaust fumes out of the air, minimizes traffic congestion, saves you gas money, and works your butt.
We love rewards - find us imbibing ours in liquid form at SFBC's Bicycle Away from Work Party at Rickshaw Stop tomorrow night (admission's free).
Wanna Try:
Bike to Work Day; May 14. Bike Away from Work Party; 6-10 pm; Rickshaw Stop, 155 Fell St. (415-861-2011).

Cocktail Fact

Poetry slams (spoken word battles) have been popular in India for centuries.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters ride their bike to work tomorrow instead of driving a car, we'll conserve enough gas to drive to NY and back 20 times.

There is nothing in the Outer Richmond - 4th and Clement is the closest thing and that would be the Inner Richmond. In fact, there's nothing west of 23rd in the Richmond or Sunset.
