Spring to Life

10.22.2007

The Bite:
imageSure, you can find every eco thing you need to spruce up your house online, but how 'bout in real life? Give your point-'n'-clicker a rest, and spring on into the Spring store on Polk. Owner Lucas Heldfond started the biz after the birth of his son, when he got tired of searching the Net for safe products for his home. Every item at Spring has been researched to ensure its fairly produced with natural, nontoxic materials, and in-home tested to make sure it's effective. We were excited to find organic cotton sheet sets by Coyuchi, a great selection of green cleaners, La Chamba's rock-polished Columbian ceramics, and beautifully packaged soy candles by KOBO. You can even create custom low-VOC paint colors, so you can get your carpal tunnel from using a paint roller instead of a mouse.
Wanna Try:
Spring, 2162 Polk St. at Vallejo St. (415-673-2065). Coyuchi sheet set, $160.

Cocktail Fact

Americans and Canadians spend about 90 percent of their time indoors.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters buy an item locally instead of ordering it online this year, we'll avert enough CO2 to fly from SF to London roundtrip 10,155 times.
