Your Last Resort - City Break

03.23.2009

The Bite:
Exhausted all in-town relaxation options? If you wanna go big (real big), try Bardessono, a new wine country eco lux resort. Its 62 not-cheap-but-oh-so-indulgent rooms sport Jacuzzi tubs and hidden massage tables (with organic cotton sheets, natch) for in-room service – no need to leave your room for mmms and ahhs. Sit down to eat at the on-site restaurant, which specializes in local and organic food, such as Sonoma coast mushrooms and Liberty duck, as well as stuff from its own organic farm. (Fresh air fanatics: Walk the resort's paths to the creek.) Built with reclaimed local wood, and recycled steel and glass, it's also got dual-flush toilets and almost half its energy’s solar. Might just be your new first choice.
Wanna Try:
Bardessono, 6526 Yount St., Yountville. Map It. (707-204-6000). Rooms, $550/night and up.

Cocktail Fact

Last Resort, starring the two Coreys (Haim and Feldman), was National Lampoon's last gasp at movie making, going straight to video in 1994.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 SF Biters stay in an eco-friendly hotel for two nights instead of a conventional one, we'll save almost an entire Olympic swimming pool's worth of water.
