Bonnet-Free Tea
The Bite
Invite your Biter friends out for a Hayes Valley-style tea party at Modern Tea, and check your bonnet at the door: This ain't yo' grandma's tea and biscuits. Owner, executive chef, and tea connoisseur Alice Cravens sources all of her teas from local organic farms and small, family-owned farms abroad, so that each cup, hot or iced, serves up a satisfying eco-experience. You can also dig into seasonal, locally sourced organic food, from tasty pancakes to sandwiches, which saves loads of fuel (most food travels 1,500 mi before it hits your plate). Result? One less bee in your bonnet. Oh, and this month, pop down the street after tea to check out modern art by local artists at AgeSong Gallery - an art show sponsored by Modern that benefits the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Parks Group.
