Honest to Goddess - Home Improvement Week
The Bite
Tell truth: Don't think you can redecorate on a budget? Well, Carol Tanzi, the self-proclaimed Goddess of Garbage, swears that reuse is the key to thrifty-yet-dashing design. Now, she's not suggesting you drag in flea-infested recliners from the dumpster (hey - college is for making mistakes). This Burlingame-based interior designer champions stylish reuse, such as cushioned seats made from old tire rims (see photo) and tables made from vintage mahogany elevators. She'll focus on revamping what you've already got, or offer finished pieces she's grabbed from past clients and Goodwill shops so that a few trees can keep growing while you get a new look. The best part: It all ends up being cheaper than buying new. Honest.
