SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 SF Biters opt for a bike made of bamboo rather than a conventional steel frame, we'll avoid mining of the weight of 12 Priuses in nonrenewable resources.

COCKTAIL FACT

Some species of bamboo flower only once every 120 years.

Take a (Bicycle) Stand

The Bite

image

Getting pushed around by street cars and semi trucks with nowhere (not even a bike lane) to go? Get a bike that'll stop traffic. CalfeeDesign's bamboo bikes have a stylin' natural look and will make your ride more comfy, since bamboo naturally dampens vibrations (and is renewable). These snazzy two-wheelers come in mountain and road varieties, and have frames bonded with hemp fiber, which lessens the need to burn energy making nonrenewable resources (like graphite and metals). To top it off, CD started a program in Ghana to show the locals how to make bikes from sisal fiber, a local resource. You'll still need to look out for Type-A cabbies, but your sweet kick stand will have him lookin' too.
