Salmon-Safe Menu

Better (Salmon-)Safe Than Sorry

04.20.2009

The Bite:
Cautious about where you spend your dining-out dollars? This week, Boka's got your back - and the fishies' - with its three-course Salmon-Safe Dinner. The cozy downtown resto - which uses fresh, local ingredients - is serving up dishes like House-Cured Duck Prosciutto and Grilled Thundering Hooves Pork Chop. The goods are from farmers and producers that earn the Salmon-Safe label, meaning their practices protect water quality so that native salmon can spawn and thrive. No regrets.
Why Care?:
Our local salmon population is declining, so protecting their habitat through Salmon-Safe certification will help prevent their extinction.
Throw in the extra $15 for the (also Salmon-Safe) wine pairings; the Adelsheim Pinot Noir with Pan Roasted Sea Scallops is a particularly dreamy combo.
Wanna Try:
Salmon-Safe Dinner; through Apr. 25; Boka Kitchen + Bar, 1010 First Ave. (206-357-9000). Dinner, $50/three courses; $65/with wine pairings.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters dine out just once on certified Salmon-Safe food and bevvies, we'll send a half-million-dollar message that protecting our native fish is superimportant.
