Habit(at)-forming

The Bite:
Weeds hooked on your backyard? Branch out and attract a new customer base – native plants and animals – with the four-session Backyard Habitat Workshop at Camp Long. Get your hands dirty as wildlife and plant experts – like folks from Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Audubon, and Washington Native Plant Society – show you how to turn your plot o' land (even if it's just a balcony) into a home for wildlife. You'll learn how to entice native birds, including the black-capped chickadee (chicks, man), and encourage native plants that help filter groundwater (without depending on harmful chems). They'll also show you how to deal with not-always-welcome coyotes and raccoons, and to manage invasive plants. Wildlife, hooked.

Cocktail Fact

About 46% of adults with a GED are smokers, compared to 10% of adults with an undergraduate college degree, or 7% of those with a graduate degree.

Small Changes Add Up

If Seattle Biters rid their yards of invasive plant species, we'll help prevent them from causing chemical changes in the soil, outcompeting native plants, and eliminating favored food sources for local wildlife.
