The Bite:
Need help finding veg food that'll arouse your senses? Come inside Wallingford's Sutra, which makes veggiecentric cuisine even we carnivores can get behind. The menu's packed with internationally influenced flavors, such as delicate Cumin Smoked Carrot and Cashew Cheese Tamales, or earthy mushrooms in a flaky phyllo-pastry purse (see photo – yet another purse to love…), all using seasonal, organic, and local ingredients. There are two seatings a night at communal tables, and it changes the four-course, prix-fixe dinner (mention allergies or strong dislikes when you reserve) every few days. The set menu keeps food waste low, and Sutra composts leftover scraps, using the soil to grow ingredients in its garden. Give 'em a hand.
