Local Lamb

Lamb-da, Lamb-da, Lamb-da

The Bite:
Looking for a tasty dinner menu that's not Greek to you? Rush over to Taste Restaurant this week, where Katahdin lamb entrées are in the house. The Ninety Farms lamb specials - like lamb curry with sticky rice and cucumber raita, or the grilled T-bone with fava puree, morel mushrooms, and Yukon frites - are made with fresh ingredients from local farmers and producers (just like 89% of Taste's other eats). No secret handshake required.
Why Care?:
Keeping food local cuts transport emissions; plus, the resto composts its scraps and encourages its staff to take public transportation or bike to work (like its chef does).
We're also mad about Taste's Squash and Chickpea Frites and its Ginger Jar cocktail (Mt. Gay Rum, lime juice, and ginger beer).
Wanna Try:
Lamb week; Jun. 9-13; Taste Restaurant, 1300 First Ave. (206-903-5291). Lamb curry, $16.

Cocktail Fact

College-affiliated groups in Europe similar to fraternities and sororities are called corporations.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters serve their fams a pound of local lamb rather than stuff farmed elsewhere, we'll save enough diesel fuel to fill nearly six bathtubs.
