Garden Tour

Last Will(ows) and Testament

04.15.2009

The Bite:
Looking to inherit some useful gardening tips? Bring your sound mind (kiddies welcome too) to Woodinville's Willows Lodge for its guided Earth Day garden tour through the lush herbs, heirloom veggies, and native plants. Plus, check out a demo of the giant-salad-spinner-looking Earth Tub composter, and get the lowdown on sustainable gardening practices. (The suggested $10 donation for the tour goes to EarthCorps.) Then stick around for the free Badger Mountain organic wine tasting - so you can rest in peace.
Why Care?:
Gardening without pesticides and herbicides prevents nasty chems from seeping into groundwater, and since the onsite resto Barking Frog chefs use organic ingredients from WL's garden, it also keeps 'em outta diners' bods.
After the tour, load up on our fave Mac & Cheese Bites (little, fried balls of heaven) and a basket of sweet potato fries at BF (it also has yummy salads and sammies if you're not into carbo-loading).
Wanna Try:
Earth Day Garden Open; Apr. 22, 10 am and 2 pm; wine tasting, 5:30 pm in Fireside Cellars; Willows Lodge, 14580 NE 145th St., Woodinville (877-424-3930). Suggested donation, $10/30-minute tour.

Cocktail Fact

In his will, magician and escape artist Harry Houdini left his wife a secret code - 10 words selected at random - that he would use to contact her from the afterlife.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters switch to sustainable gardening methods for 1 year, we'll keep the weight of seven riding mowers in pesticides from entering the environment.

Hi Sweetie, This sounded like fun so I thought I'd pass it on. xoA
