Slow Food Fundraiser

Reap What You Slow

10.26.2009

The Bite:
Wanna grow the slow food movement and enjoy a tasty dinner? Plant yourself at The Slow Food Seattle Quillisascut Farm Student Scholarship Fundraiser (say that three times fast) on November 5. Yum: a three-course meal with seasonal ingredients, including goat cheeses from Quillisascut Farm (hence the goat photo), and local wines. Money raised'll benefit the 2010 Slow Food Youth workshop at QF, where peeps 18-29 get hands-on farm experience and an understanding of where their food comes from. How fruitful.
Why Care?:
The slow food movement promotes biodiversity of crops, organic farming, and the preservation of family farms. Plus, teaching folks about where their food comes from helps 'em appreciate the process.
We're stoked that we're still considered "youth," and while we'll sadly be aged-out by next year's workshop, we're still ready to support the cause and have a yummy meal to boot.
Wanna Try:
The Slow Food Seattle Quillisascut Farm Student Scholarship Fundraiser; Nov. 5, 6 pm; FareStart, 700 Virginia St. Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets, $50 (plus tax and gratuity).

Cocktail Fact

Slow Food International founder Carlo Petrini originally started the movement in protest of a McDonald's opening in Rome.

Small Changes Add Up

If Seattle Biters support educating others about the slow food movement, we'll have a whole new batch of informed eaters protecting Mama Earth and supporting local farmers.
