(To)fu Fighters

The Bite:
Is mushy tofu getting the Best of You? Rock some Small Planet Tofu instead. This subtly sweet, firm-for-slicing curd is available in two varieties: fresh – good for recipes like tofu cheesecake (strangely enough, yum) and tofu enchiladas (a good entrée to soy splendor) – or baked, which you can pop in a sandwich or right in your mouth. Made from Penrith Farms-grown organic soybeans, both varieties come in Original (plain), Garlic & Herb, Spicy, Curry (our fave), and Sun-Dried Tomato flavors – sporting an Everlong list of organic seasonings like dill, jalapeño peppers, and wheat-free tamari.
Wanna Try:
Small Planet Tofu, available at Ballard Market, 1400 NW 56th St. Map It (206-783-7922). Tofu, $4-$6/15.5 ounces.

Cocktail Fact

Many of the songs that wound up on Foo Fighters' debut album were rehearsed in early 1994 as potential Nirvana songs, with Dave Grohl on guitar and Kurt Cobain playing drums.

Small Changes Add Up

If Seattle Biters opt for organic tofu instead of the standard stuff, we'll keep nasty chems outta our bods and the soil, since pesticide use on soybeans is second only to that of corn.
