You Spin Me Right Round, Baby

01.06.2009

The Bite:
imageRight round, like a...pizza from the new 'Zaw location in Ballard. Like the originals (Cap Hill and South Lake Union), this joint creates take-and-bake pies, flatbread apps, and salads. Each dish's got suggested pairings like Snoqualmie wines and Fish Tale organic ales. But the pizza's the rock star - try our fave, the Cowardly Apricot, topped with roasted free-range chicken, apricots, and Gorgonzola. 'Zaw uses seasonal, organic, unique - Vietnamese hot sauce, anyone? - and local ingredients, such as Bob's Red Mill organic flours (organic = no chems; local = low CO2 emissions from transport). It'll deliver (the booze too) by bike for an extra two bucks - you just pop it in the oven, and open up your loving arms, er, mouth.
Wanna Try:
'Zaw, 5458 Leary Ave. NW. Map It (206-297-1334). The Cowardly Apricot, $19/serves 2-3.

Cocktail Fact

Dead or Alive's '80s hit "You Spin Me Round" was re-released in 2006 because of lead singer Peter Burns's stint on the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Seattle Biters eat just one locally sourced meal instead of a nonlocal one, we'll offset the CO2 emitted by 80 SUVs in a year.
