Is an unsafe bottle repressing your thirst?

The Bite:
Time for some bottle therapy. It used to be practically a requirement for the eco-conscious urbanite to lug water in reusable hard-plastic bottles, but it turns out those bottles can leach toxins. Choose lined aluminum, stainless steel, or glass instead.
The Benefits: 
  • Health-consciousness. Polycarbonate plastic used in bottles by Nalgene and other companies leaches bisphenol-A, which is linked to birth defects, miscarriage, and prostate cancer.
  • Less waste. Plastic water bottles require 1.5 million barrels of oil each year to make.
  • Hydration. Experts recommend we drink six to seven glasses of H2O per day, so keep a bottle handy.
  • Hipster appeal. Metal and glass options now come in supercool colors and designs.
Personally Speaking:

I really appreciate the tips on this site and love that they have such great advice on water bottles. Whatever you do stop drinking out of non reusable plastic. I do not think I need to go into the details, because I feel I am preaching to the choir. I like many of the suggestions, but if you want another alternative check out the elegantly etched glass water bottles at http://livinglavidaverde.net/store.aspx . Glass is historically safe, and wonderful to drink out of. Check out the website, and enjoy some of the advice too.

I attach my stainless steel, beautiful Earthlust litre bottle to the outside of my carryon (empty) and fill it throughout my flight. I prefer stainless to aluminum, and I love their designs.

How do you manage to get through security with your reusable bottle? Make sure it's empty when you go through? I'm getting ready for a flight and would really like to know how to get my aluminum bottle through security. Thanks!

Glass is definitely the way to go!! Metals are great because they don't break, but I personally did not enjoy the metallic feel with the stainless steel one I used for a week or two. THEN I started using glass with a flip-top lid as this worked better with the Alkalized Ionized Water (www.h2o4ourhealth.com)which I drink from home....then I got really into it and decided to design really cool bottles to others!! Check out my line of bottles at www.symblueology.com . These are Italian Blue Glass Bottles. The blue light charges the water with healing light (ala Zero Limits) AND I have Sandblasted empowering words and symbols on them too (ala Dr. Emoto). These bottles are so thick and durable too...I have dropped mine on cement, no breakage and I have several comments from users about how durable they are. I mail them from Maui, in flat rate boxes. 1-3 bottles filled with Alkaline Ionized Water, same shipping price!! Blessings to all....no more plastic bottles please!!
