BANG FOR THE BITE
apple

It's gonna take more than a bottle of hoisin sauce to stop global warming, but a meal marinated with fewer pesticides helps support more eco-farming practices.

COCKTAIL FACT

To gain weight for his role as John Lennon's killer in the upcoming film Chapter 27, Jared Leto drank melted Haagen Dazs with olive oil and soy sauce.

Do you have to be drunk to enjoy your own stir fry?

The Bite

Another shot of sauce, please. Our fave organic Asian cooking sauces are so good, they can render even your charred tofu close to edible.

The Benefits

  • Getting drunk off the flavors. You don't need to get sauced to enjoy these sauces.
  • Less planetary intoxication. Organic food means fewer pesticides in nature and supporting farmers who promote sustainable agriculture.

Personally Speaking

We taste-tested the Soy Vay Teriyaki Sauce and all agreed: You could put this stuff on anything - even a shoe - and it'd still taste good.

East Side/West Side

Gotta love the sauces of the East. But if you're looking for an alternative to soy or tamari sauce that is way lower in sodium but will still satisfy your salt tooth, think West.

I usually stir fry with Bragg's Liquid Aminos, which is made from non-GMO soybeans, and has protein and healthy amino acids like Lysine. They carry this stuff in most grocery stores in SF, and Whole Foods nationwide, but if you wanna try before you buy, the company offers free sample packets through its website here.

-Toshio...off to zap some of last night's stir fry (cooked with Bragg's) in the micro...

Biter Comments...
Soy Vey makes something called Wasabiyaki sauce which is wonderful.
Soy Vay has a wonderful story of how it began in the eclectic little town (my home town) of Arcata, CA - 300 miles north of S.F. (no not Oregon still in CA!) A Chinese girl meeting a Jewish boy so hence the name Soy Vay. They have really expanded and do lots of great sauces and now operate out of S.F I think. Check their website for their story.
I have been using Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce for years! I LOVE it! So glad you guys tipped it.
That cocktail fact made me nauseas. Eww.
Trader Joe's sells Soy Vay Teryaki sauce and it's cheaper than what you're showing here.
