BANG FOR THE BITE

You're in safer hands with our natural picks, but better creams won't single-handedly save the world.

COCKTAIL FACT

Liberace, Keith Richards, and Harvey Lowe (winner of the first World Yo-Yo Contest in 1934) all took out insurance policies on their hands.

Need a hand choosing the best hand cream?

The Bite

Take ours. Our fave organic hand creams steer clear of chems sometimes found in conventional creams...the ones you should really only handle with gloves on.

The Benefits

  • Moisturized mitts. It's never too late to become a hand model.
  • Less hand-wringing. Avoid questionable chems like hormone-disrupting parabens found in some conventional creams.
  • Cleaner for critters. Every time you wash your paws, chems on your hands wash down the drain and can end up in nature.

Personally Speaking

Heather has sampled hundreds of creams over the past couple years. Her current fave is Pharmacopia's rosemary hand cream, which she applies before sleep every night. Well, unless her hands are otherwise occupied that evening...

Gimme a Hand
My friend, Aurore, who is French, once told me that French girls have this vision of American girls always putting cream on their hands before going to bed each night.

I have no idea where that comes from, but it disappointed me to no end to learn that I was an American cliché. I like to think that I am this exquisitely unique creature and that my nightly routine of hand-cream-donning just means I am terribly well groomed (if you know me, you know how laughable a concept that is, since I can't even bother to do my hair in the morning).

So, in my cliché-laden state, I am happy to report that I can't get enough of Pharmacopia's Rosemary Hand Cream. Get some. Join the American woman rank and file, and slather it on before bed. Then we can all hand model in Parisian ad campaigns when we're 50.

-Heather... off to get my hands dirty, gardening with my mom...

Biter Comments...
Miessence organics has just come out with a fantastic new organic hand cream. For the absolutely BEST hand cream one must try The Healing Plant Garden's Cream for Hands. This soothing, lovely scented, all natural cream is made in upstate NY on a farm that is part of the Camphill Village campus. It is totally natural and contains NO synthetics whatsoever.Made of Calendula, comfrey, chamomille, organic olive, almond and sunflower oils, as well as Demeter certified grape alcohol. It makes the difference between smooth as a baby's butt and alligator hide. It can be purchased directly from Camphill Village Gift Shop either on campus or by phone.
I worked 13 years in daycare, 1 year in a nursing home, and now 2 years in a group/residential home. I wash my hands about every 4 minutes. My favorites are Hemp Nature's Gate and Calendula Kiss My Face.
This is from your latest email: "Personally Speaking Heather has sampled hundreds of creams over the past couple years. Her current fave is Pharmacopia's rosemary hand cream, which she applies before sleep every night. Well, unless her hands are otherwise occupied that evening..." Are comments like the last sentence rally necessary?
I really agree with Jean - it's cool if you and your staff always have sex on the brain - but writing like that detracts from the product's image, and from your ability to persuade.
I love all the comments about sex. It is part of the charm of ideal bite. Please don't stop, with sexual innuendo or lovely little witticisms. You help get me through my day! On an unrelated note, does anyone know if any of these great companies offer some kind of home sales program (I'm thinking something like the hippie avon lady)? Thanks!
find this post very amuzing!
You can try http://www.melaleuca.com/ for business opportunities. I am not sure what their ingredients are like though. Have just heard about them from a friend.
I'm allergic to flowers and have recently found that natural creams, which are usually full of plant oils, irritate my skin. Any suggestions for non-chem, non-floral creams?
Hi Angela, I work with a "Green" Manufacturer who has a great comp plan for people who refer (work from home). I've created a corporate level income working only 10-15 hours/wk. Plus, I'd bet their "Timeless Age Defying Hand Cream" would beat any on the market...it's fabulous! They also have "Renew Intensive Skin Therapy", which is great for dry skin and eczema. Feel free to call my office: 480-751-1010 for more information.
My personal fave is Suki hand & body velvet creme. Janne - have you tried just straight shea butter or cocoa butter? Both are great at moisturizing, although I use those only at night so they really sink in, especially on my feet. Great ones can be found at terressentials.com.
I can't believe no one's mentioned Aubrey Organics! They have several different body lotions and a full range of skin and hair products (for babies and men too)! They're completely organic (and almost all products are vegan) and comparatively inexpensive. So I sound like an evangelist? Well, I LOVE this stuff and have been using it for years, after my MD turned me on to it. Check them out: www.aubrey-organics.com
Angela (& anyone else looking for a great work from home opportunity), You might want to become a miessence organics Independent Representative like me :) It's a fantastic way to get a discount on amazing products and to make some money while helping to educate consumers about the safety of their products and help them to replace some of the nasties with certified organic, natural, safe alternatives that really work! You can sell online and/or through home shopping presentations (like Tupperware etc). For more information check out: http://anniesorganics.mionegroup.com:80/earn or email me: annie@mccaslands.com Whatever business opportunity you choose, I wish you all the best, it certainly has been a liberating and rewarding experience for me!
When we lived in Ukraine, a friend asked me if Americans always had Wheaties for breakfast. And, after seeing family Christmas pictures on my fridge, asked whether it was common for families to always dress alike. Lots of assumptions about the US are made because of mass media, especially movies. . . (And thanks for the hand care recommendations--I like a little almond oil. . .)
I am risking sounding really cheap here (but I tend to be "frugal"), but any suggestions as to the best moisturizer/skin care for not so much cash. I am switching over to all organics but don't want to break the bank.
I ordered "TerraNova Sakura & Green Tea Hand & Body Cream" based on the tip and was disappointed to find it contains 2 parabens. :(
Check out www.aubrey-organics.com!
I love Olivina's hand creme and i slather on coconut body cream or shea butter before i go to sleep. It really helps the skin glow and feel all silky and smooth. Ive also notice since i started using the shea butter and coconut butter, my skin has become more receptive to tanning without the sizzling sunburn afterwards. And after every sunny day i moisterize to keep it all in. Ive been getting all my products from http://sensesandscents.com/ where i can get real good deals on products i love!!!
